About
Penny Bridge House is a spacious holiday home for up to 14 guests, set in a tranquil village on the edge of the Lake District National Park.
Built in the mid-18th century, the property has recently been fully refurbished and modernised for contemporary living, whilst retaining the character and original features of its early Georgian heritage – think sash windows, sweeping bannisters, and original fireplaces.
The house provides plenty of space for big groups, including a large enclosed garden (great for kids and dogs alike) and outdoor terrace with views of the surrounding fells. A newly fitted, open-plan kitchen ensures plenty of room for cooking hearty meals, which can be enjoyed around the extendable farmhouse dining table. Kick back in the snug with a film afterwards, or perhaps a board game next to the log burner in the living room? Both kids and grown-up kids will also love the games room; equipped with a 7x4 ft slate bed pool table, dartboard and drinks fridge for hours of entertainment.
There is an expansive private garden to the rear of the house, which has been separated into a maintained, fenced-in area (suitable for dogs and children) and wilder woodland further back. In warmer weather, the old orangery terrace offers the perfect spot for outdoor dining, whilst you might want to enjoy a game of Boules, Croquet or even Mölkky (a very competitive Finnish throwing game!) on the flat top lawn, if the mood takes you.
